Hope Credit Union Announces Mergers with Michoud Credit Union in Louisiana and B & W Mississippi Employees Credit Union

July 10th, 2017

JACKSON, MS – Hope Federal Credit Union (HOPE), one of the nation’s leading community development credit unions, has merged with Michoud Credit Union in New Orleans, La., and B&W Mississippi Employees Federal Credit Union in West Point, Miss.

The mergers received approval from regulatory agencies in February, and final systems conversions were completed in July. B&W and Michoud have been renamed HOPE. The separate transactions expand the menu of financial products and services available to residents in both markets, and provide access to a regional branch network.

“We are proud to build on the foundations established by B&W and Michoud, and expand the reach of our development financial services across eastern Mississippi and the greater New Orleans area,” said HOPE CEO Bill Bynum. “We look forward to ensuring that more Mid South residents have access to the tools they need to support their families, and strengthen their communities.”

Headquartered at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility, Michoud Credit Union has served employees there for 35 years.  The credit union also has a branch in Chalmette, and serves approximately 850 members. The Michoud site is home to a number of companies from commercial and government sectors.

B&W has been in operation since 1973 and primarily serves manufacturing employees in the area. B & W has approximately 700 members.

HOPE serves more than 34,000 members in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. Individuals interested in joining Hope Credit Union can do so by visiting one of the existing locations or visiting our website: https://hopecu.org.
