Healthcare Access in Centreville, MS

April 21st, 2017

Field Health System, a rural critical access hospital, was suffering from declining patient visits due to the poor quality of its outdated facility. HOPE helped the hospital structure a New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) transaction and provided a $6 million NMTC investment and $2.5 million in conventional financing to build a new $21 million state-of-the-art facility. The municipal-owned hospital serves Amite and Wilkinson Counties, which are very rural areas and both persistently impoverished (poverty rates of over 20% for three decades). Field Memorial is the only hospital within 40 miles in any direction.
