In the region of the country that is one of the most medically underserved and has many of the poorest health outcomes – the highest rates of obesity, diabetes, infant mortality and heart disease – HOPE has worked to improve this record. HOPE has done this by supporting medical service providers in rural and low-income communities and providing financing for community health centers and rural hospitals, helping them expand access to quality healthcare in underserved areas across the region. Because of the state of federal and state funding for healthcare, most lenders are reluctant to finance healthcare providers. HOPE has made more than 30 loans to healthcare providers and helped these providers access an additional $50 million in financing.
