Program Funding Supports Job Creation, Economic Development

Nashville, AR – HOPE (Hope Enterprise Corporation and Hope Credit Union) has committed $8,000,000 in New Markets Tax Credit allocation to Husqvarna Group’s Nashville manufacturing facility for new plating and honing equipment for their hand-held lawn tool engine assembly.  The funding will be used to purchase new machinery, which will bring the plating and honing process in-house and will be more efficient and environmentally friendly than commonly-used methods. The new plating and honing line will create 22 new jobs at the 1,200 employee facility.  Husqvarna Group operations in Nashville support more than 800 additional jobs in Southwest Arkansas.

McNulty Prize — a $100,000 prize that recognizes the spirit of innovation and excellence of private sector leaders who use entrepreneurship to address important global social issues. Burdened with the highest poverty rates in the nation, individuals, businesses and communities in the U.S. Mid South have long suffered from a lack of access to traditional financial services. Bynum, an advisor to Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama on community development issues and Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, founded HOPE to provide financial services that support jobs, housing, access to health care and other critical needs in the region’s most distressed communities.

Partnership Grant Assists Home Again in Providing More Affordable Housing

Byram, Mississippi – Representatives from Hope Credit Union and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) have awarded Home Again, Inc., $20,000 in Partnership Grant Program (PGP) funds. The PGP award will assist Home Again with costs associated with a program it has to rehab properties, primarily foreclosures, to provide housing for low- and moderate-income families. The PGP check presentation took place at one of the recently renovated properties in Byram, Mississippi.

CFPB Concludes Successful Mississippi Visit

New Tools for Consumers Announced On Friday, September 20, the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB) concluded its meetings in Mississippi by announcing a new partnership with the City of Jackson.  Consumers may now call the city’s “311 Line” with complaints regarding financial products and services.  Consumers that dial the number with complaints will be connected directly with the CFPB where questions may be answered or formal complaints may be lodged.
